Boštjan Jerko will present the new N-ka board.

What is N-ka?

N-ka is a 32-bit ARM based platform, that can be used for prototyping as well as in production without change. The advantage here is that no reprogramming of the device is needed, the board's details (IO signals, timing …etc) can be accessed during development phase, no new code is needed to use the board in production. Therefore, it is assured that anything in production will work out-of-the-box.

In the workshop, the open source IDE CodeBlocks will be demonstrated and used. CodeBlocks is the programming environment recommended for N-ka (use of any normal editor and an open source GCC compiler is always possible, of course). Extensions easing programming for N-ka will be installed during the workshop.

Boštjan Jerko, the workshop tutor, will be equipped with 20 boards plus some LEDs, resistors, pushbuttons, breadboards, wires, batteries, … in order for workshop participants to be able to do hands-on programming on the N-ka board.

For preparation in advance, participants can download the ARM GCC environment from https://launchpad.net/gcc-arm-embedded/+download and CodeBlocks from http://www.codeblocks.org.

Internet connectivity is provided on location; any additional development material / software to be brought by participants on their own.
